北阿坎德邦靠近中國邊境的一座大橋倒塌

DEHRADUN: An iron bailey bridge over the Dhauli Ganga river in Chamoli, Uttarakhand, connecting Niti Valley on the India-China border with the rest of the state, collapsed on Sunday while a truck was passing through it.

The truck driver managed to save himself by jum into the river before the bridge gave away.The incident occurred around 4.30 pm at Burans near Malari.

Soon after the incident, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for upkeep of roads and bridges in the area, dispatched a team to the site and commenced reconstruction of the bridge.

“BRO is working on a temporary bridge to resume traffic movement as soon as possible,” said Lt Col Manish Srivastava, PRO, Defence (Dehradun). SDM of the area, Kumkum Joshi, told TOI that “Currently, there are no residents in the area and only Army movement takes place through the bridge.”

Meanwhile, Colonel Ankur Mahajan of BRO said, “Vehicles have been diverted to an alternate route and construction of a causeway over Dhauli Ganga is underway, with completion expected by Tuesday.”
