According to a UN forecast, India will overtake China as the world's most populous country this Friday, with more than 1.4 billion inhabitants. Large Indian cities like Mumbai are already saturated. More than 20 million people live in the country's economic capital, in an area barely six times larger than central Paris. Mumbai is the victim of excessive urbanisation, with rents soaring and wealth gaps widening between the upper classes and poorer residents, especially those living in slums.

Downtown Mumbai has a lot of one story buildings for some reason. The rest are mostly 2-4 story buildings, which is strange in a city that's so densely population. I know these are old buildings, but in those days they should've followed the Paris or Barcelona model of "gentle density" and built their buildings with 7 floors.

Population explosion already happened in India. Almost all the tier 1 & tier 2  cities are full of population. There is no basic standard of living in these cities. Delhi and Mumbai along with Ahmedabad Bengaluru Hyderabad and kolkata are like worst cities among the world. No life in these metropolitan cities coz of huge population. All cities have more than +10 M population and Delhi and Mumbai have may be 2.5 to 30M population each...
