The most you could find about maya was just some random text and stone dolls?

The Maya have 4,000 cities that still have standing temples and buildings across the Americas. They left wall reliefs and possessed a writing system. There isn’t a single standing structure built by shanxndui. The Maya produced codexes and detailed records, we know the stories of their gods and great kings - of which the shanxndui left us nothing because they had yet to develop written language. These cultures are not very similar, but your attempt to minimize the magnitude of the Maya civilization is incredibly misleading.

@Ed im not trying to minimize nth but just stating my observation on the complexty of the artifacts. the sanxngdui exploration is far from being completed, they are only 0.2% finished at this point, and they already discovered a half gold mask........simply mind-blowing stuff. The language system will emerge as they keep exploring.

@Dasd Da The comment on literacy isn’t an insult, it’s a conclusion from the findings. If they used writing, archaeologists probably would have found a word in the last 35 years of excavations. Documents from other kingdoms that knew of the Shu civilization and allied with them in war indicated they did not use writing.

@Dasd Da why the need to compare which is better...? Can't we just appreciate archaeology for what it is - to learn about humanity in the past as a whole? To my knowledge no written text has been discovered as of now in Sanxngdui. These gold masks and bronze objects are fascinating and intricate and all, but just like the chief archaeologist of the latest Sanxngdui excavation said, he would be exhilarated if they could dig up any signs of writing, as it is much more valuable.
